More than 650 foreign nationals appear in court

More than 650 foreign nationals arrested last week during raids in the Joburg CBD are appearing in the Johannesburg Magistrate court.

The South African Police Service and the Johannesburg Metro Police raided the streets of Johannesburg in search of counterfeit goods.

Clement Manyathela speaks fro Eyewitness News reporter Edwin Ntshidi on the latest.

We are seeing a number of foreign nationals who are here to support their fellow ones who were arrested last week on Wednesday during the raid in the CBD.

It was 669 of them arrested during the raids. The minister of home affairs says the verification process was finalised on Saturday and it was found that about 459 of the foreign nationals arrested didn't have proper documents to stay in the country.
