eThekiwni mayor Zandile Gumede fired

The African National Congress (ANC) in KwaZulu- Natal has decided to fire eThekwieni Mayor Zandile Gumede.

Gumede has been implicated in a report compiled on the state of the 11 municipalities including eThekwini. The report cited infighting, rampant corruption and a complete collapse of service delivery.

She is facing fraud and corruption charges relating to a R208m waste tender.

Clement Manyathela speaks to Eyewitness News reporter Nkosikhona Duma on the latest.

The provincial leadership of ANC in KZN has decided to axe deployees to municipalities, among those is eThekwini Mayor Zandile Gumede, the council speaker William Mapena and ANC chief whip Neli Nyanisa.

What we do know is that the ANC had dealt with deployees which it feels have not been working or meeting the mandate of their deployment.
