Gareth Ackerman has just been elected as Co-Chairperson of the Consumer Goods Forum, a position that he will occupy for the next 2 years.
This is a global body that brings together 400 businesses in 70 countries, with combined sales in excess of EUR 2.5 trillion.
In his new role as co-chairperson, Ackerman will have to address the three following matters:
Sustainability: He says that the members of the forum are working to use technology that will reduce the emissions of greenhouse gases into the environment.
Food waste: Ackerman advises that the members will need to address more effective ways of maximum food production with minimum wastage.
- Palm oil: According to Ackerman, the issue of palm oil and deforestation will need to be combated in the way that member companies make their products.
