Unsecured lending battle won by the Stellenbosch university's LAC

It is reported that fifteen salary attachment orders issued on behalf of unsecured lender, Bridge and various of its subsidiaries were on Wednesday declared “unlawful, invalid and of no force and effect” in the Western Cape High Court by Judge Siraj Desai.

Judge Desai declared the issuing of these garnishee orders, to be unconstitutional, granting a substantial victory to the University of Stellenbosch’s Legal Aid Clinic (LAC) and the consumers it represents.

Wendy Appelbaum

Appelbaum says she got involved with these cases after she saw what some members of her staff were going through with the garnishee's and she knew it wasn’t right.
