A Khayelitsha tavern, Osi’s Place has temporarily lost its liquor licence following the death of eight people after a metal staircase railing gave way last month.
The Western Cape Liquor Authority brought an urgent application to have the tavern’s licence suspended following allegations that the owner flouted regulations and was selling alcohol to under 18s.

The owner’s lawyer met with the prosecutor for the Western Cape Liquor Authority and they have agreed that the licence should be suspended pending the finalisation of the full hearing which will take place on 17th of August.
