Over 500 public transport vehicles impounded by the City's Traffic Services

The City of Cape Town’s Traffic Service has so far impounded more than 500 public transport vehicles in the first half of this year.

This is part of the City’s Operation Restore, which focused on minibus taxis, sedan taxis and scholar transport vehicles.

We spoke to JP Smith, City of Cape Town Mayco Member – Safety and Security to tell us more about this operation.

Five years ago we did very limited action against them, we focused much on mini bus taxis but at the moment it is the metre taxis that form a substantial part of it.
