Tutu was readmitted to hospital after being at home for only three days, following a surgical wound that showed signs of infection, reports EWN's Monique Mortlock.

He had a minor operation just under two weeks ago and his wife, Leah Tutu, spotted the infection early enough to ensure the Archbishop started antibiotic treatment right away.

The surgery was to address the root cause of a reoccurring infection that has been plaguing him since last year.

Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa visited the Arch in hospital this morning along with provincial ANC secretary Faiez Jacobs.

During the visit, the Arch appeared to be jovial and lively, making jokes and laughing with his visitors.

Tutu van Furth also slammed media who had falsely reported her father's death.

It’s unclear how long he will remain in hospital at this time, and she hopes that he will be home soon.
