67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela calls for Cape Town's contributions

Mandela Day is fast approaching and many projects will see people giving 67 minutes of their time to do something worthy.

Among these events is the is the 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela initiative, which is a knitting initiative taking place at the V&A Waterfront.

We spoke with Nwabisa Mayema, Project Manager of 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela who says that they are stationed at the V&A Waterfront from 11 am until 4 pm this week, encouraging people to donate their 67 minutes by making a square or contributing to a knitting starter pack.

As of April this year, we've collected 7 000 blankets. The blankets have been distributed to those who are in need. We are gathering on International Nelson Mandela Day to contribute further to this work.
