The Department of Health recently published the proposed amendments to the Regulation 8 of the Medical Schemes Act for public comment.
Regulation 8 currently says medical schemes must cover the full cost of members’ bills for prescribed minimum benefits, regardless of what their healthcare providers charge.
The proposed amendments have received criticism saying that the amendments will make medical schemes even less liable for their members’ bills.
