From the streets of Zwide to a world class opera singer, meet Musa Ngqungwana

Musa Ngqungwana grew up in the township Zwide in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape. He is a UCT Opera School graduate, who received a B.Mus. Honors in Performance (Magna Cum Laude), and a Performer's Diploma in Opera at the SA College of Music. He furthered his training by completing his postgraduate studies in opera at the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia.

CapeTalk's Pippa Hudson spoke to Musa Ngqungwana about his journey and some of his achievements:

I first heard opera at the age of 16 when at the time i was singing with the Viola Men's Choir in Port Elizabeth

2014 - Standard Bank Young Artists award
2015 - Musa launches his book ‘Odyssey of an African Opera Singer: From Zwide Township to the World Stage’ at the South African College of Music at UCT.
