A Cape Argus investigation has revealed drug dealers operating in broad daylight on lower Church Street, a busy Wynberg CBD corner on the same street as the local police station.
Major General Jeremy Vearey has commended the investigation by reporters who photographed and filmed dealers selling unidentified white pills outside street shops near the Wynberg station.
Vearey says that the lower Church Street area, near the train station and taxi rank, is a hotspot for drug selling, prostitution and other illicit activities.
According to Vearey, several arrests have been made on the street since early May but, more needs to be done by the local police.
The detection there leaves much to be desired, both in terms of the police investigation and general monitoring. We will re-evaluate the way that the police there are tackling the drug dealing phenomena.— Jeremy Vearey , Major General
