Tourism Minister Derek Hanekom has admitted that the new entry requirements imposed by the home affairs minister Malusi Gigaba have had a massive impact on tourism figures and that the numbers used to justify them are incorrect.
Gigaba, however, still maintains there is no concrete evidence of a link between a drop in tourism figures and tighter visa regulations.
He says we cannot put tourism figures before the safety of children.
