As President Jacob Zuma studies National Police Commissioner Riah Phiyega's response to the recommendations from the Farlam Commission of Inquiry on Marikana, calls are being made for her to step down. However the board representing the nine provincial police commissioners says the negative attitude against National Police Commissioner Riah Phiyega are unwarranted and the National Commissioner has its full support.
Lieutenant General Nobubele Mbekela, Deputy Police Commissioner tells Udo Carelse this morning (in for John Robbie) that she supports Phiyega unconditionally and actually believes that the National Police Commissioner is being attacked because she is a female leader and mostly attacked by men - even though she has shown exemplary leadership.
