Mbekela supports Phiyega unconditionally, says she "is being attacked"

Lieutenant General Nobubele Mbekela, Deputy Police Commissioner told Udo Carelse this morning (in for John Robbie) that she supports National Police Commissioner Riah Phiyega unconditionally. The Deputy Police Commissioner went on to suggest that gender discrimination is behind calls for Phiyega to resign.

The Farlam Commission of Inquiry recommended in its report, released on June 25, that Phiyega face an inquiry into her fitness to hold office, following the of killing of 34 striking workers at Lonmin’s Marikana mine on August 16 2012. Click below to watch Stephen's view...
