Candice Sehoma: Gauteng Lead SA Adult Hero of 2015

As the young brand that has made tremendous strides in activating South Africa to make a difference, Lead SA turns 5, we celebrate the people who are exemplary in active citizenry.

(see related article from the Lead SA 5th Birthday celebration yesterday)

This morning Udo Carelse spoke to Candice Sehoma who was crowned Gauteng Lead SA Adult Hero of the Year. Sehoma and three other young people mobilised their community in Alexandra Township to contribute to building proper flushing toilets (from the bucket system) - they are now expanding it to other communities in Alex.

Sehoma says that they went about this seemingly daunting task by actually involving the community in contributing collectively to building proper flushing toilets - they were encouraged to contribute a certain amount of money building materials (to instill a sense of ownership). She says that they managed to get some sponsorship from the JTI company to assist in meeting the community halfway.

Well done Candice, you are such an inspiration!
