A small village of McGregor situated in the heart of the Breede River Valley is preparing for its third annual Poetry Festival taking place from 27th to 30th of August.
Poets from around the country will be coming together to spent a weekend sharing their work in readings, discussions and lectures.
CapeTalk’s Pippa Hudson speaks to David Magner, who is the vice chair of the festival’s organizing committee.
Magner says that this year’s event will be bigger than last year. They have a line-up of about 50 poets who will be performing which is the biggest number they’ve ever had.
The poetry festival lecture will be delivered by Professor Louise Viljoen, professor in Afrikaans and Dutch literature at the University of Stellenbosch and CapeTalk’s John Maytham will also be there.
Poetry is an aspect of life that unfortunately doesn’t get what it deserves— David Magner
