After numerous calls from some of our CapeTalk listeners complaining about some retailers who are overcharging them when buying LP Gas, we contacted relevant party to get relevant information.
According to the LPG Safety Association of South African, this is unfair practice as prices for LPG are regulated in the country.
Avhafani Tshifularo, Executive Director - The South African Petroleum Industry Association (Sapia) speaks to CapeTalk presenter John Maytham about LP Gas prices:
The maximum retail price of LPG is basically fixed by a way of regulation by the Department of Energy on monthly basis— Avhafani Tshifularo, Executive Director
According to Tshifularo, retailers cannot charge consumers what they prefer. If customers are charged more than what is set they should contact department of energy on 0124067579
