What do you do when your partner or family fail to provide emotional support that they should provide that you need?
Emotional neglect involves failure to provide emotional support that one should provide, mostly family or those we are in a relationship with.
According to Dr Schomer when we you feel neglected you should talk about how you feel and let those you are in a relationship with know.
When the connectivity is threatened or neglected, not happening, we feel bad and feeling bad could be a motivation to going and seek a talk— Dr Helgo Schomer, resident psychologist
The effects of emotional neglect:
- Feeling emotionally starved
- Feeling as if you don’t have enough support
- Feeling as if you don’t matter to anyone
- Loneliness and feelings of not belonging
