Confirmation this morning that a train being pulled by one of the new Prasa locomotives has derailed in the Northern Cape, at the same time some managers at the passenger rail agency of SA are having a press conference, following the departure of its CEO lucky Montana.
The breakaway group of employees (including managers and was meant to have a press conference in a boardroom inside Prasa, however were told today to leave and boardroom doors were locked. The press conference had to be taken to the street outside Prasa.
EWN's Gia Nicolaides was at the press conference. She says that this group convened because they are unhappy with the state of affairs at Prasa, particularly with the interference of the board in management matters, as well as the decision to dismiss former CEO Lucky Montana. They have called on government to intervene in the Prasa crisis.
