Spaza Store creates handmade, functional household items that are easy on the environment. Their products could well be used as gifts as they are beautifully packaged and packed in a hand-printed gift bag, alleviating the need for plastic.
Spaza Store is known for beautiful hand-printed fabric covers used to cover food as a modern alternative to cling wrap.
The owner of Spaza Store, Julia Schaffer shared with John Maytham her humble beginnings.
Julia says she started with producing a dish cloths using South African cotton and then moved to producing other products.
Currently Spaza Store has two home workshops and each employs three women on full-time basis.
They are situated at shop F62 The Watershed, V&A Waterfront.
