Pick 'n Pay is running a promotion where they giving out a little plastic toy called Stikeez for every R150 you spend.
Jonathan Cherry, Director of Cherryflava Media, says in the short term Stikeez are a huge bonus for Pick 'n Pay but questions whether the promotion is a good move for their bigger picture.
Stikeez seem to have achieved the intended purpose of getting consumers to spend more at Pick n Pay, he says.
According to reports, the campaign has boosted Pick n Pay’s sales by 12% since they started.
