A number of Outsurance pointsmen have recently been given permanent positions within the City of Cape Town traffic department.
To avoid traffic snarl-ups the city of Cape Town is looking at training more people to work as pointsmen within the city’s roads.
This initiative by Outsurance provided wardens to major intersections within the city for a number of years.
CapeTalk’s Kieno Kamies spoke to Alderman JP Smith, City of Cape Town Mayco for Safety and Security:
The numbers of pointsmen are down because we have a number of them who were successful in getting full time employment— Alderman JP Smith, City of Cape Town Mayco for Safety and Security
According to Smith, the trained pointsmen will be in the streets again, directing traffic, by 1 October. The training will take about five which includes motorcycle training.
