Film and art critic, Hugh Fraser recommends you watch these movie releases this week:
Mr Holmes: "This is one of those English movies they do best, but I don't think it needs to be made at the back of Sherlock Holmes. It could've stood on its own."
Jenny's Wedding: "A surprisingly sensitive, realistically filmed and credible relationship drama that exposes the lies we tell ourselves and the true colours of those around us. It's not an action movie, so if you're not into human drama rather watch the rugby!"
About Elly: A postwar Iranian movie depicting the strains between strict Islamic traditions and modernism within Iran’s affluent, sophisticated middle class.
Impunity: A 2014 South African thriller film directed by Jyoti Mistry. It was selected to be screened in the Contemporary World Cinema section at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival. The film is about a couple who commit acts of crime and violence.
Pay Back The Money: Leon Schuster movie about After losing rugby’s holy grail, the Currie Cup, Schuks (Leon Schuster) teams up with comedian/actor – Desmond Dube, and after losing the Currie Cup follows a hilarious journey to pay for what he has done. In classic Schuster style, the film includes candid camera gags for which Schuster is so well known and feature a list of local celebs and public figures.
