“Tell Me Sweet Something” tells the story of Moratiwa, Nomzamo Mbatha's character, who is an aspiring novelist with writer’s block. Moratiwa hasn’t had much luck with love since her ex-boyfriend Norman went out to buy milk and never came back.

Her best friend (Tashaka) played by Thishiwe Ziqubu, convinces her to party up a storm at a new club in the city - it is at this club that she meets South African celebrity model, Nat Masilo, Maps Maponyane's character.

The rest of the film reveals the story of the characters falling for one another with the Maboneng District as the backdrop for their love story. It is a charming, funny and romantic film that shows a side of Johannesburg rarely seen, and tells the story of love - which never gets old.

The movie premieres at cinemas across South Africa in early September. Listen to Africa's conversation with Akin about his new movie, and how far the film industry has come in South Africa:
