A lot has been said and written about transformation and its lack thereof in sport, education and the workplace lately. Mandy Wiener (standing in for 702's Stephen Grootes) spoke to scenario planner Clem Sunter to unpack the local public discourse.
Mandy asked Sunter if he was hearing the word "transformation" more often than usual. Sunter said the issue is about economic inclusivity, adding that as much as the South Africans in general attained political freedom in 1994, not everyone had yet achieved economic freedom.
What I feel we haven't got in society... we've got political democracy, but there are so many other aspects of our society, particularly in the economic field and in the academic field... and many other fields where we simply haven't got a level of integration among the groups in South Africa which goes with our political democracy.— Scenario planner, Clem Sunter
