Kraaifontein Six case postponed yet again

Nine months after their arrest, the bail hearing for 17 men accused of murdering the so-called Kraaifontein Six took place at Blue Downs Magistrates Court, yesterday.

The Six were allegedly stoned and stabbed with their hands and feet tied. Four of the six men found murdered were alleged to be known gangsters in Kraaifontein.

Eye Witness News reporter Monique Mortlock explains the court’s outcomes:

According to Mortlock the case was once again postponed (after numerous postponements in the past) to September 28 which got both the families of the six victims and the accused up in arms.

CapeTalk’s Kieno Kammies also spoke to Kraaifontein station commander Brigadier Gerda van Niekerk and asked if indeed the victims were part of a gang:

Unfortunately I can’t confirm that they were part of any gang but there are a lot of rumours within the community.

She further said that this particular case is challenging because of the bigger number of accused individuals, hence the postponements.
