Consumer electronics giant Ellies has been accused of copying the products of local entrepreneurs but says the claims have no legal standing.

The inventors of the Wonderplug, and an inverter, claim their products were copied in China by Ellies for sale in South Africa.
The company denies these claims and says the public accusations are merely a smear campaign against the organisation.
CapeTalk presenter Kieno Kammies spoke with Ellies CEO Wayne Sampson and Wonderplug inventor Jason Roper to hear both sides of the story.
