Dr Ntobeko Ntusi on getting to the heart of the matter

Dr. Ntobeko Ntusi has been awarded the Research Excellence Award for Early Career/Emerging Researchers for his research work in better understanding cardiovascular disease, particularly in an African setting.

A modest and academically brilliant Dr Ntusi spoke to John about his research in heart disease this morning.

He said that when looking at a spectrum of heart diseases in Sub-Saharan Africa, they mostly affect younger people and are heavily infectious.

Dr Ntusi mentions that the heart diseases and related infections are largely preventable. His research has been focused mainly on non-invasive techniques to investigate these heart and related diseases.
