The Western Cape Department of Human Settlement officials have launched a housing project that will see 87 homes built in Spieskamp, Oudtshoorn.
The Oudtshoorn municipality, in collaboration with the department and Agri Wes-Cape, will build the houses to accommodate farm employees, who have never owned their own land or homes.
The department will also provide housing subsidies for beneficiaries and Human Settlement MEC Bonginkosi Madikizela says the partnership drive is an example of the good that can come from the private sector working with government.
The farmworkers will benefit from The Spieskamp project. The farmers have offered land and contributed bulk infrastructure, we will also contribute the subsidy.— Human Settlement MEC, Bonginkosi Madikizela
