Why Mauritius and Thailand are popular destinations for South Africans

Are you planning to go on holiday soon? CapeTalk’s Pippa Hudson speaks to Andrew Stark, managing director of Flight Centre South Africa about current trends in the travel industry.

According to Stark, this is the best time to travel to other countries where the rand is of value. He says when people are making bookings they want to know if they’ll be able to have a good time even with the current state of the rand.

Mauritius and Thailand are the two destinations that most South Africans flock to for holidays, he says.

Some of the common mistakes people make when going on holiday:

  • Thinking you are a travel expert

  • Packing too much and being over the weight limit

  • Forgetting your passport and other travelling documents

  • Under budgeting
