A man who shot and killed a Cape Town police officer has been sentenced to life in prison. Siphiwo Zondani who was out on parole at the time, shot dead detective Constable Mthetheleli Gunya in Nyanga, last October.
Judge Elize Steyn found Zondani guilty on four charges, including murder.
The judge told the court that Zondani's appearance showed no sign of remorse and that there was no chance he could be rehabilitated.
Zondani was sentenced to life behind bars, as well as 10 years for attempted murder and another five for the possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
