Often, people find it hard to communicate about sex, particularly finding the most appropriate vocabulary to express themselves.

With the increased spread of sexually transmitted diseases, communicating about sex before you have sex could strengthen your relationship.

Dr Eve says talking about sex could lead to satisfying sexual experience and not talking about it could bring resentments, tension and potential conflicts into the relationship.

She further says that everyone should be in a position to be able to tell their partner what their likes and dislikes are or even what makes them tick when having intercourse.

If you are not able to talk or disagree on things like dinner or who is doing laundry and picking up the kids from school, it is definitely going to be difficult to have a conversation about sex

Dr Eve, clinical sexologist
