Capetonian rides for 27 months (and 43 000km) to get to the 2015 Rugby World Cup

Ron Rutland, a die hard Springbok supporter, cycled for 27 months and 43 000 kilometres to get to the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

He rode through every country on mainland Africa, and through Europe and set off from Cape Town two years ago.

Rutland spoke to CapeTalk presenter Kieno Kammies about his long expedition and the inspiration behind it.

I've always had a sense of wanderlust, I guess, and I met people who inspired me to embark on this journey.

Ron Rutland, adventurer

He refers to the expedition as “celebrating health, vitality, mobility, adventure and life."

Rutland says he is shell-shocked at the results of the game between the Springboks and Japan on Saturday.
