Accused wife killer Jason Rohde headed back to JHB

Property mogul and murder accused Jason Rohde's court application to return to his Johannesburg home, until his trial, has been approved.

Rohde is charged with the murder of his wife, whose body was found in their room at a Stellenbosch hotel in July.

He had been released on R1.1 million bail in August after his arrest in connection with his wife's death.

The suspended real estate CEO had been living with relatives in Melkbosstrand, reports EWN's Shamiela Fisher.

His defence lawyers applied for Rohde to go home and be with his three daughters, who have been left traumatised following their mother’s murder.

Both Rohde's eldest daughter, who's currently in matric and his 16-year-old twins have been forced to stay at boarding school.

He's saying now that he is a single parent, it's more important that he's there for them.

Fisher explains that Magistrate Greg Jacobs found that there are reasonable grounds for the application to be granted.

The Magistrate ordered that Rohde regularly report to the police station closest to his Johannesburg residence, and fly to Cape Town to attend mandatory court appearances.

Rohde’s case has been postponed to to 27 January for further investigation.
