Back by popular demand, Orpheus in Africa

Orpheus in Africa, a production of David Kramer is back at the Fugard Theatre.

Kramer says the musical tells a story of the McAdoo Virginia Jubilee Singers` visit to South Africa during the last decade of the 19th century.

He says that he featured well-known jubilee spirituals in the musical component of Orpheus, such as - Swing Low Sweet Chariot, The Gospel Train and several original compositions by Kramer.

Orpheus in Africa played at Fugard Theatre earlier this year and was completely sold out in the initial 4 week season.

According to Kramer, the musical is actually based on a true story.

Aubrey Poo leads the production as Orpheus McAdoo alongside Lynelle Kenned as Orpheus’s fiancé, Mattie Allen.
