It was confirmed yesterday that Public Protector Thuli Madonsela has joined the EFF case at the Constitutional Court, seeking to force President Jacob Zuma to "pay back the money" spent on the security upgrades at his Nkandla residence.

Madonsela said she realised that she stood to be associated with the EFF for showing solidarity with their application. She added that she had taken the risk in a bid to clarify the powers of the Public Protector's office.
