Free fitness support community challenges South Africans to ship into shape

Fitness support community Sleekgeek SA has launched its first step challenge in a bid to encourage healthy living.

From 5 October 2015, Sleekgeek encourage all South Africans to take 10 000 steps a day - one hour worth of walking every 24 hours.

The challenge hopes to make people mindful of how they use their time and to consider more constructive ways of keeping healthy.

The free platform offers inspiration, advice and motivation for South Africans on their journey to wellness.

Founder, Elan Lohmann, decided to change his life at age 35 after what he says were years of self-neglect.

Sleekgeek boasts a membership of nearly 40 thousand people, from a small community which started off a Facebook group.

It's a good thing!. 99% of what we offer is for free. My goal is to inspire South Africans to live a healthy lifetsyle - that's the mission that I'm on. My job is to encourage others not to improve their quality of life and aim for better than mediocre.

Elan Lohmann, Sleekgeek founder

One of Sleekgeek’s main goals is to reach 100 000 South Africans and inspire them to change their lives and become healthy, fit and to have a life filled with vitality.

Lohmann says South Africans should make the best use of accessible outdoor platforms such parks to walk their steps.

Anyone wanting to improve their health and vitality are welcome at Sleekgeek, visit their website to learn more.
