Heat wave hits the interior, SA weather service warns

The South African Weather Service has issued a heat wave warning for the interior of the country for the next five days. The temperature in Johannesburg is expected to reach 32ºC today while Mpumalanga and Limpopo can expect temperatures to rise to highs of 34ºC and above.

Ray White (standing in for Stephen Grootes) spoke to Puseletso Mofokeng, a senior forecaster at the SA Weather Service:

In Pretoria we are expecting a maximum of over 36ºC, Hammanskraal 38ºC and Pilanesberg 37ºC. This is the picture residents can expect for the rest of the week.

Puseletso Mofokeng, Senior Forecaster at SA Weather Service

He said there were expectated thunder showers on Thursday which might cut the heat wave short.
