A catch up with SA rock band, 'Springbok Nude Girls'

Springbok nude girls is a rock band from Cape Town. They performed their first gig in Stellenbosch in 1994.

The band have since toured extensively, receiving a South African Music Award (SAMA) for Best Rock Album (Surpass The Powers) in 2000.

Africa Melane (standing in for Pippa Hudson spoke to Arno Carstens, Musician and frontman of the Springbok Nude Girls.

Carstens thinks they got a lot of attention when they started because ofthe name “nude girls”. Listening to the radio, Carsten says he heard the DJ saying and the springbok nude girls will be making an appearance at ….

He immediately thought that would be a good name for the band as they didn’t have a name at the time.

Carstens says they started off wanting to have a good party but with time it became a serious thing, more like a job.
