New or revised editions of indigenous language monolingual, and bilingual (English and indigenous language) dictionaries will be available to the public during international Dictionary day – 16 October 2015 until the end of November.
Terence Ball of the Nine South African National Lexicography Unit spoke to John Maytham about the new dictionaries that are underway.
Ball said that they are working towards completing the first phase of the constitutional requirement of the unit, which is to elevate and increase the usage of indigenous languages.

They have so far published seven monolingual dictionaries and there are still two indigenous languages that don’t have a dictionary which they are hoping to complete by 2016.
