Meet Bheki Kunene, media mogul on the rise after a troublesome past

Bheki Kunene is fast becoming one of South Africa’s most celebrated and respected young entrepreneurs.

His creative design agency, Mind Trix Media, does branding and web development and was the first of its kind in Gugulethu.

The 27-year-old started with one computer, a single client, R600 and a grim reputation in his community over five years ago.

Growing up as a trouble-maker, residents of Gugulethu didn't always sing his praises, but now the social entrepreneur has helped change the lives of over 40 people.

Listen to the full conversation from CapeTalk’s Breakfast with Kieno Kammies:

My turning point came after I felt like giving up on myself. Society deemed me as a misfit and thought I belonged in jail, or dead. I felt I had nothing to lose anyway. The agony fueled me to wanting to become successful.

Bheki Kunene, founder of Mind Trix Media

Kunene has been ranked among Forbes List's 30 most promising young entrepreneurs in Africa for 2015.

Mind Trix Media now has clients on four continents across the world.
