Karabo Mathang-Tshabuse spoke to CapeTalk/702 Redi Thlabi about her success and challenges as the first South African Fifi-accredited soccer agent.
In 2007, Mathang-Tshabuse opened her own business, P Management, which scouts for amateur soccer players and grooms them to become professional players.
She said she was 21 years old when she decided to start her business, adding that there were very few soccer agents at the time she saw the gap as an opportunity to start her own.
Listen to the full conversation on The Redi Tlhabi Show:
Things were not all rosy for her, when sitting for the Fifa exam in order to obtain her accreditation - she failed twice. She eventually managed to get accredited, becoming the first female in the continent to do so.
P Management, which represents about 40 players, was pivotal in the rise of players such as Orlando Pirates’s Mbongeni Gumede and Banyana Banyana’s Amanda Dlamini.
