Every year South Africa celebrates National Nutrition Week from 9 – 15 October. The focus of this year’s campaign is "Healthy eating in the workplace".
It’s all about encouraging South Africans to make better choices about what they eat at work and about encouraging employers to make healthier choices more readily available.

According to Day South Africa has a very high rate of obesity with 65 percent of women being overweight and men at 31 percent.
Day said that people need to make healthy choices in their diets because of long hours they spend at work. She said it is also the employer’s responsibility to make sure the employees eat healthy food.
