The scaffolding of a pedestrian bridge under construction in Sandton has collapsed, killing two people and injuring more than 20.
The bridge was being built parallel to Grayston Drive over the M1. It’s understood the scaffolding may have fallen onto cars travelling below.
Motorists are being advised to avoid the M1 and Grayston Drive entirely. Reports of severe traffic backups into Sandton have been received.
