Violent protests have again erupted in Vrygrond near Muizenberg this morning.
Residents are demanding illegal taxis, impounded last week, are returned to operators.
According to Western Cape Traffic Chief Kenny Africa, two people were shot on Thursday morning following ongoing protests.
Two persons were fatally shot. The one died on the spot, and the other at later stage. The current situation in Vrygrond is extremely tense. We've got a high police visibility in the area.— Kenny Africa, Western Cape Provincial Traffic Chief

The City of Cape Town says illegal taxis in Vrygrond and surrounding areas have been impounded to prevent violence among rival groups.
Residents burnt tyres on Wednesday and the taxi association demanded that the taxis that were impounded be returned to them, though the City’s JP Smith says it is legally impossible.
