After the death of her farther, Andrea-Lea Hendrick found comfort in using drugs. She got involved with a wrong crowd and before she knew it, she was behind bars on a drug-related offence.

“I got caught and sentenced and that was the best thing to ever happen to me.

Andrea-Lea Hendrick, former convict and business woman

Hendrick was 27 years old when she left her son to serve her sentence at Pollsmoor prison. She was sentenced to 9 years behind bars but was released on good behaviour after 4 years.

Today Hendrick is a businesswoman owning Step Ahead Salon – hair salon, nail bar and makeup section.
