Masiphumelele has seen a spate of violent protests and at least three mob attacks on suspected criminals over the past few weeks.

Community leaders have called for calm following the court appearance of activist Lubabalo Velem, who was arrested in connection with mob justice attacks in the area.
Community leader, Howard Mbana said residents are standing by Velem, who was denied bail.
Mbana said protesters are prohibiting residents to go to work.
