The City of Cape Town warns of possible water restrictions

Cape Town might experience problems in water supply in the coming months because of the current weather conditions (low rain fall). The dams are currently at 71.9 percent, which is below average.

Ernest Sonnenberg, Mayco member for Utility Services says there is a potential of water restrictions but it is not yet a crisis.

He says that the decision to implement water restriction will be made in collaboration with the Department of Water and Sanitation in the first week of November.

He further said that the decision will be informed by the scientific findings from the Department of Water and sanitation.

He says it looks like the City is most likely to impose water restrictions and residents are urged to increase their conservation measures in the meantime.
