The situation in Masiphumelele is still tense due to ongoing protests. Yesterday, it was reported that protesters blocked the main road with a shipping container.

Major-General Thembikile Patekile, Acting Western Cape Provincial Police Commissioner said that there were conflicting priorities due to student protests that were going on in Cape Town.
He said that the deployed law enforcement was not sufficient against 2000 people that were protesting in Masiphumelele.
