Support staff and some students at Wits University are disrupting classes at the Braamfontein Campus on the first day of resumed lectures.
At least 100 outsourced workers and 200 students joined them in a demonstration at the institutions entrance.
EWN reporter Govan Whittles said protesters want the institution to be closed until the outsourcing matter is put to rest.
This demonstration is not necessarily supported by those who took part in the fees must fall movement. It is only the people who support the end to outsourcing campaign who are unhappy with the agreement reached with university management.— Govan Whittles, EWN Reporter

They’re also telling other students to join their protest or to go home, adding that those who have chosen to go back to class are sellouts.
This comes after a number of fires were started on its Braamfontein campus overnight, with at least two vehicles torched and an attempt to set alight a bookshop in the student centre.
